He added that the plot was to cause apprehension set the country on fire. The minister lamented that opposition parties were being economical with the truth on the matter and resorted to various allegations to destabilise the country. Akinlabi maintained that democracy had come to stay in the country, adding that no amount of criticisms by the opposition could destabilise the present democratic structure in the country. He said that eminent leaders worldwide had commended the Nigerian government for the ways the situation was managed. He noted that the international community would also ensure that Nigerian democracy is sustained. On the inability of Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to see the president on arrival, Akinlabi said: “If the acting president could not see the president, I want you to believe that there are good reasons for that and things will be sorted out appropriately in no distant time.†According to him, “The present situation is the handiwork of the opposition. They are plotting against democracy. Their acts are aimed at destabilising the peace and stability of the country. But I am sure that Nigerians are ready to sustain this renascent democracy.â€
