A chieftain of the Action Congress [AC] in Lagos State and former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Idris Dele Kosoko, has advised the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi  Ikuforiji, to concentrate on his constitutional responsibility of lawmaking instead of antagonising the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).
Kosoko while addressing the press in Badagry condemned the recent statements credited to the speaker faulting the performance of the governor.
He noted that the speaker had misplaced his priorities.
He said the constitution was very clear on the functions of the speaker, who is a member of the legislative arm of the government, and the governor, who is the head of the executive arm of the state government.
Kosoko noted that what the speaker should concentrate on is how to make laws that would move the state forward and not rubbing shoulders with the governor.
“Even a blind man is aware that Governor Fashola has performed creditably well, what Lagosians expect from the speaker is to come out to tell them the number of laws so far made and implemented by the arms of government concerned.”
He said the issue of the speaker wanting to know the  amount spent in Lagos State on projects should not be Ikuforiji’s concern, but an oversight function of relevant committees monitoring the projects.
He said the political mentor of both the governor and the speaker is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the speaker should not cash on the fact that there was a cold war between the governor and Tinubu to attack Fashola.
The former lawmaker said instead of maintaining neutrality and ensuring that peace reigns, the reverse was the case.
On the issue of the former Deputy Speaker, Mrs. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, who was removed, Kosoko warned the speaker not to be involved in any act capable of bringing disrepute and bad blood within the legislature.
